What does Cynefin mean?
Cynefin is a Welsh word that loosely translates to habitat, familiar and belonging, though the meaning of the word varies from person to person. Cynefin is often used to describe our relationship with the world around us, and how our connection to our surroundings shapes and informs who we are. Cynefin opens the door to curiosity and wonder, simplicity and complexity, diversity and inclusion.
Cynefin is an invitation to belong to yourself – a familiar space to encounter your emotions, thoughts, sexuality and agency, and an opportunity to be known.
a place of belonging
Cynefin, a place of belonging
A place of knowing and being known
The cwtch of troubled heart’s longing
Cynefin, the familiar sense of home
Intimate sounds, smells and warmth
Giving rest, welcoming weary bones
Collectively and personally forged
Joy and sorrow, pain and pleasure
Over many years, Cynefin formed
Cynefin, perspective of soul’s vision
Mysterious enclave, lavish trove
Distinctive beauty, life’s provision
Cynefin, source of comfort and power
Gentle when self-assurance departs
Ever present in despair’s hour
Wellspring of movement and change
Agent of motion, harbour of conversion
Cynefin, life’s sequestered sage
